The route to Tenahead is along the renowned Naudes’ Nek Pass “highest commercial pass in South Africa”, this scenic drive with its mesmerizing views will take you on twists and turns that follow the alluring curves of the Bell River; a clear stream with sparkling pools which are irresistible to fly-fishers. At Tenahead an old wagon route crosses the Bell River below the Lodge, so let the fresh crisp air fill your lungs and explore the array of activities available, from mountain biking, fly-fishing, hiking and horseback riding, alternatively take the challenge and dare to do the 4X4 route.

Tenahead is a magnificent treasure that offers a truly unique experience as if you were on top of the world. The spacious living areas of the lodge explicate classic and calm interiors that are elegantly decorated. The Lodge has three lounges, a breakfast room, main dining room and library. The library houses approximately 2000 books that have been carefully hand selected on subjects regarding the history of South Africa, travel and wildlife. There are two wooden decks where lunches and sundowners can be enjoyed with an unrivalled atmosphere of peace and tranquility, offering the perfect place to relax and unwind. Tenahead offers fine quality 6 star cuisine, along with an amazing selection of South African wines, which is exemplary as you would expect.

The grand seven luxurious en-suite bedrooms have been stylishly furnished to complement the lodge’s rustic natural appearance; all feature elegant open fireplaces which are lit throughout the snowy winter. Large double glazed windows grace a single wall of each bedroom, framing panoramic views of the awesome mountains, valley and sparkling streams create an unforgettable ambiance. The bedrooms all have a stocked bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities, satellite television and satellite phone. The bathrooms are fitted with both shower and bath and amenities for that personal touch.

From Barkly East to Rhodes, 60KM gravel road.

From Rhodes to Tenahead Mountain Lodge, 40km

High clearance cars can drive up from Rhodes to the lodge, road permitting.

(Always check before driving up) - Inclement weather is beyond the control of Tenahead Mountain Lodge.  Bad weather can cause closure of roads for a number

of days and access to and from the Lodge is prevented.  The roads are not owned by Tenahead and we can therefore not be responsible

for road closure as a result of bad weather / heavy snowfalls.  It is understood that any expenses in relation to

these unscheduled extensions (eg. accommodation, meals, telephone calls etc.) will be for the guests account.

No refunds will be given due to inclement weather access.
